Just saw a social media post where someone painted over a fossil and it got me fired up

I was scrolling online and found a video of a person painting a fossil they dug up. They said it was to make it look better, but that wrecks the science we can learn from it. This kind of thing seems to be happening more now with folks treating finds like crafts. We really need to spread the word that geology is about more than looks. These rocks hold clues to our past, and messing with them erases history.

Absolutely. It's like they pick only the bright crayons and leave the dark ones in the box. We get stories of triumph but skip the messy, painful parts that made those wins so hard. They color over complex events with one simple, happy shade, and call it done.
