Dad's hands-on rock lessons beat my app any day

Showed me granite grain size with his fingers. Now I use an app scan. Miss the dirt under my nails.

Man, that hits hard. Read something a while back about how our brains learn better with real objects you can touch. All that texture and weight. A screen just can't give you that. Makes sense why the memory of the dirt sticks with you more than a scan.

Wow, @simonl86, you hit on something big here. I always remember how things feel in my hands way more than just seeing them on a screen. It's like our brains need that real touch to make things stick.

Maybe for some things, but what about learning a new language or seeing a 3D model of a heart? A screen can show you things you could never hold in your hand. Sometimes the detail you get from a zoomed-in scan is way more powerful than any texture.
