I finally got my pegboard hooks sorted after a tool avalanche
I was in my garage in Cincinnati trying to grab a socket wrench, and the whole section of tools fell off the board onto the concrete floor. I ended up using a dab of hot glue on the back of each hook to keep them from sliding around. Has anyone found a better method for securing those metal hooks?

Tried the hot glue trick once and it worked for a few months. What finally stuck for me was using a tiny dot of clear silicone caulk on the back of each hook. It holds way better than hot glue on the metal, and you can still peel it off later if you need to move things around. My board hasn't had a landslide since.

That silicone trick is genius, honestly. It makes me think about how people always reach for the quick fix like hot glue when sometimes the slightly less obvious option works way better long term. I've noticed that same pattern with all kinds of stuff around the house, like people use duct tape for everything when a little bit of proper adhesive or a clamp would actually do the job right. Hot glue is just too easy to pop off on metal surfaces because it doesn't really bond, it just sits there like a temporary sticker. Silicone caulk has that flexible grip that actually grabs onto both surfaces without being impossible to remove later, which is exactly what you need for something like a pegboard that might get rearranged. It's funny how the little details like choosing the right glue can save you from having to redo the same project three times.
