Finally cleared out the old paint can graveyard in the back corner

For years I just tossed every half-empty can back there, figuring I'd need the color someday. Last Saturday I sorted them all and found 14 cans, most from before we moved to Phoenix. I kept three that still had good paint and took the rest to the city's hazardous waste drop-off. Anyone else have a good way to keep track of what paint you actually have left?

Ever try to match a color from a chip years later? That's how I ended up with three gallons of basically the same beige.

Honestly @mia_park that sounds like a total nightmare. Tbh I have to ask, did the store's color matching machine just keep giving you slightly different results each time? It feels like they never get it right unless you bring in a huge piece of the original wall. Ended up with a whole wall in my old place that was a totally different shade in sunlight.
