The shop vac I rebuilt 3 times finally gave up for good last week
I had this old Ridgid 6.5 gallon shop vac that I kept bringing back to life with new filters and hose tape jobs. Last Tuesday I was sucking up sawdust from a pine table I'm building and the motor just started screaming and then died completely. Opened it up and the armature was totally fried, smelled like burnt copper and everything. Anyone else try fixing a dead shop vac motor or do you just bite the bullet and buy new?

Why not try swapping the motor from a busted one on Craigslist?
