I finally stopped fighting the dust in my garage shop
For years I kept sweeping and wiping everything down, then reading about how much of that dust is actually from concrete and drywall, not just wood, so it never stays gone. Last month I read a post from a guy in Phoenix who measured his garage air with a cheap particle counter and found levels 3 times higher after just an hour of sanding. That made me look into a simple box fan filter setup, one with a 20x20 furnace filter rated MERV 13, and it cut the visible haze in about 40 minutes. I was stubborn about spending $35 on the filter and fan combo, figuring it was a gimmick, but the difference is obvious now. Has anyone else run a dust test in their garage, or do you just accept the layer of grit on everything?

Skip the filter and just wear a mask, you're wasting your money on a pretty fan.
