Smart home gadget reviews always hype the features, but my wall mount install was a disaster because of faulty sensors. Do you trust them for DIY projects?

Oh man, I feel this SO hard. My smart doorbell once decided to record every car that drove by for a WEEK straight. The sensors are just NOT reliable enough for serious DIY. It turns a simple project into a full time job trying to fix their mistakes. You end up wasting more time than you save, which is the whole point of DIY!

Totally get what @mila_craig4 is saying. My smart thermostat decided it was winter in July and cranked the heat to 80. Another time, a water leak sensor I installed just beeped non-stop from humidity. Fixing them usually means resetting everything or calling support, which defeats the DIY point. Makes you wonder if these things are more trouble than they're worth.

Ugh, those sensors are the worst. My motion sensor lights turn on for no reason all night. Even had a smart lock just decide to unlock itself once. The tech is cool but so flaky. You can't trust it for serious stuff without a backup plan. Makes DIY feel more like damage control.
