My smartwatch bricked itself during a 5 mile run and I almost lost my mind

Last Tuesday, I was halfway through my usual route along the river path when my watch just died. Not a low battery warning, just a black screen. It's a model I got six months ago, and it's been fine until then. I had to finish the run with no idea about my pace or distance, which totally threw me off. When I got home, it wouldn't turn on or charge, no matter what I did. The whole point of the thing is to track my fitness, and it failed at the worst possible time. I spent the next two days reading forums and trying every reset trick I could find. Has anyone else had a gadget just give up on you mid-use like that? What did you end up doing?

Man, that's the worst... My buddy's phone just shut off forever in the middle of a huge rainstorm last month. He was trying to call for a ride and it just went black, never came back on. Had to walk home soaked.

Wait, it never came back on at all? That's crazy... poor guy. Hope he was okay after that walk, @spencerl32.
