My smart lock bricked itself during a rainstorm

The August Connect module on my front door lock just died Tuesday night. It got soaked from a heavy downpour, even though it's supposed to be weather resistant. I had to call a neighbor to let me in, and now I'm back to using a physical key. Has anyone had a smart lock fail from weather and found a truly waterproof one?

But honestly every lock can fail, my neighbor's Schlage got water in the keypad last winter.

That exact thing happened to my August lock last year. Ended up switching to a Schlage Encode Plus. Thing is built like a tank and the keypad is sealed tight. Haven't had a single issue through some serious storms. You might want to check if your lock is still under warranty first though, sometimes they'll replace it.

Yeah the "built like a tank" part is so real. I had a cheap smart lock that gave up after one rainy season, it was so frustrating. Getting something that can actually handle the weather makes all the difference. Glad the Schlage is working out for you, that peace of mind is worth it.
