Just realized my old smartwatch battery only lasted 18 months before it was useless

That's a specific failure point they don't mention in the glowing reviews. The thing just stopped holding a charge past a few hours, making the whole gadget a paperweight. Anyone else have a device that hit its planned obsolescence date right on schedule?

Planned obsolescence" seems a bit harsh for a battery.

Is it really that harsh though? They definitely design these things so you HAVE to buy a whole new device when the battery starts acting up.
