I think those 'smart' plant sensors are a total waste of money

I bought one of those little stick-in-the-dirt gadgets three years ago after seeing all the good reviews. It was supposed to tell my phone when my fiddle leaf fig in the living room needed water. Thing is, it kept telling me the soil was dry when it was actually damp an inch down. I ended up overwatering and nearly killed the plant. Now I just use my finger to check the soil. Has anyone else had a plant sensor give them bad info?

Mine told me my cactus was thirsty for a solid month. I should have known better than to trust a gadget over my own two eyes.

Yeah, my gadgets lie to me all the time too.
