I finally tried that 'review first, unbox later' method from a tech blog

Last week, I watched a full review of a new tablet before I even took it out of the shipping box from Amazon. I realized I already knew all its flaws and didn't even feel excited to open it, which felt kind of backwards. Does reading a review before you get the gadget ruin the fun of a new thing?

Totally kills the magic. I just look at specs now, save the reviews for after I've played with it myself.

Man, that's the only way to do it anymore. I started doing exactly what you're saying, @simonl86, and it changed everything. Half the fun is just figuring a new gadget out for yourself, you know? Reviews just set up expectations that are never quite right.
