Can we talk about the smart tape measure that lied to me?

I got one of those digital tape measures after reading a glowing review online... said it was perfect for quick jobs. Tried to use it to check a wheel well clearance, and it kept adding random inches. Like, it told me I had three extra feet of space... which would have been nice, but wrong. Ended up having to redo the measurement with my old manual tape. Learned that some gadget reviews skip the part about real world use... my new rule is to check multiple sources now. It's a skill, I guess, seeing past the shiny ads to what actually works.

Wow, so your 'smart' tape measure was just being OPTIMISTIC about your space?

Hey @perry.parker, calling it "optimistic" makes it sound like the tool is wrong on purpose. Mine gives a different number because it uses a laser and does the math for you. A manual tape measure can be off if it's bent or you read it wrong. The smart one just takes human error out of the picture. It's not being hopeful, it's being more precise. I trust the digital readout way more than my own eyes.

Heard a friend order a couch that wouldn't fit.
