TIL a client's 'simple' walnut table refinish turned into a 3-day saga after we found a 1920s newspaper lining the drawer.
The brittle paper was glued under the original felt, and preserving it while fixing the water-damaged drawer bottom meant mixing hide glue by hand in my Brooklyn shop, which honestly made a tough week feel kinda special.
