Appreciation post: I finally stopped fighting my fridge
I used to think I needed to organize everything into neat containers, but that just made me avoid putting stuff away. Last week I just started stacking takeout boxes on one shelf and it cut my cleanup time in half. Anyone else find that a little mess actually helps you cook more?
My whole kitchen used to be a system of clear bins and labels. It looked great but I never wanted to deal with it after cooking. Letting my pantry shelf just be a pile of bags and boxes means I actually put the rice away instead of leaving it on the counter.
Yeah, the fancy container system is a trap. I had a whole drawer just for spices in matching jars. Took forever to refill them. Now I keep the store bottles in a shallow basket I can just pull out. Grab the cumin, toss it back in. Done. My cutting board lives right on the counter next to the knife block. One less thing to dig out of a cupboard.
