Update: I finally stopped using a contract for small jobs in Portland after 3 years of insisting on one

Honestly, last month I had a client ghost me on a $500 logo job, and chasing them with the contract I made them sign wasted more time and stress than just writing off the loss and moving on to the next gig.

My old boss in Seattle said the same thing.

Sounds like bosses in Seattle all get the same terrible script to read from. Bet his next line was about synergy or touching base offline. Some things are just universal, like bad coffee and managers saying empty stuff. Glad he's your old boss now.

Remember @dylanward mentioning his old boss said the same thing? Makes you wonder if there's a secret manager handbook they all get when they move into leadership roles. I had one who used to say "let's circle back" every single day, but he never actually circled back to anything. It's almost like they train them to talk a lot without saying anything real.
