PSA: I stopped chasing 'high-value' clients and my income went up 30%

I focused on quick, repeat jobs from smaller businesses in my town for 6 months instead of big corporate pitches. Has anyone else found that the 'dream client' advice is actually bad for cash flow?

Totally agree, chasing those big contracts was killing my cash flow. I switched to doing basic bookkeeping and quarterly tax prep for local shops and restaurants. They pay fast, they come back every month, and the work is way less stressful than those endless corporate proposal cycles. My revenue is way more steady now because I'm not waiting 90 days for one big check. The "dream client" thing is a trap if you need money coming in regularly.

What specific services did you switch to offering for those smaller businesses? I've seen a lot of people talk about this shift but not the actual work they're doing.

I used to chase big projects, but now I just do their weekly payroll.
