Got a check for $500 from a client I thought ghosted me six months ago

It showed up in my mailbox today, no email or anything, just an envelope from a company in Austin. I had written that invoice off completely after sending three follow-ups. Has anyone else had a payment pop up out of the blue like this, and how do you handle the books for it?

Just log it as income for this month.

Yeah I mean sure @rileyjones just slap a label on it and call it a day, right? That's what I love about accounting, you can just decide what something is and poof, problem solved. Next time I'm short on rent I'll just "log it as income" and see what my landlord says when I hand him a spreadsheet. Maybe if I write "paid in full" on a napkin it counts too. It's almost like people forget that money actually has to come from somewhere before you can count it.
