That time a new hire tried to cool a mold with a garden hose

We had this kid, Kevin, start at the foundry in Toledo last summer. On his second day, he saw a hot sand mold and ran to grab a garden hose from outside, yelling 'I got this!' before anyone could stop him. The steam explosion wasn't huge, but it covered him and half the floor in wet sand, and he just stood there dripping. Anyone else have a new guy story that makes you laugh now?

Yeah that's a classic. Gotta show new people the steam release valves first thing, saves everyone a mess. Maybe it's just me but that lesson sticks better after they see why it matters.

Classic. People always skip to the fix.

My uncle spent three hours troubleshooting his espresso machine once. Turns out he just needed to clean the grouphead gasket, which he'd been skipping for six months. @eva_garcia56 would've had a field day with that one.
