Heads up on those new ceramic fiber blanket rolls versus the old style
We had a big pour last month and tried the new 'easy tear' blanket for lining the risers. It felt faster at first, but after the pour, we found it broke down way quicker than the old woven stuff. The old blanket held up for three full heats, but this new stuff was crumbling after just one. Has anyone else seen this happen with the newer materials they're selling now?

Yeah, same thing happened to us. The new stuff just doesn't last.

My buddy runs a small crew and they tried that new easy tear stuff on a big riser job last month. He said it looked fine going in but after the pour the fibers were just flaking off in chunks, like old cardboard getting wet. They had to rip it all out and reline the whole thing before the next heat. The old woven blanket they used before lasted through three pours no problem. He told me he's just sticking with the old style from now on, not worth the headache.
