Was skeptical about The Bay (2012) being a real found footage flick but that town meeting scene looked too genuine to be fake acting

I thought it was just another mockumentary until I saw the water parasite footage from the public health office, that grainy security cam stuff felt way too real, has anyone else had a found footage movie flip their opinion halfway through?

That town meeting scene was the moment I went from skeptical to fully creeped out too. The way people were sitting there sweating and coughing, half of them already infected, and nobody knew it yet. Really makes you wonder though: do you think the director outright told the actors what was happening in the scene, or did he let them react naturally to the fake illness? Because if they were just told to act sick, that's one thing, but if they were kept in the dark about the whole parasite thing, that's a whole different level of manipulation.

That's like how people act normal during a crisis in real life too, you know?
