Hot take: The Blair Witch Project is overrated and Creep (2004) does the forest found footage thing way better
I know everyone worships Blair Witch for inventing the genre but I watched it again last week and it just drags so much. Creep from 2004 (not the 2014 one) is only 75 minutes, has actual scary moments in the woods, and the subway tunnel scene still gives me chills. Anyone else think the original gets a pass just because it came first?

...I mean, it's a movie, not a life philosophy. You're acting like Blair Witch personally offended your family or something. Both movies have their moments, but calling one "overrated" because the other is shorter and has a subway tunnel scene feels like splitting hairs to me. Creep is fine for what it is, but Blair Witch basically invented a whole genre and scared a ton of people before anyone knew found footage could even work. Maybe it just doesn't hit the same now because we've seen a million imitators since then. Not everything needs to be a competition, you know?
