Friend told me my found footage videos were 'too jumpy' and I was pissed at first but they were right so I cut every shot longer than 3 seconds and now they actually feel real

I was packing in 4 cuts per second thinking it added energy but it just gave everyone a headache after 10 minutes. Has anyone else had to completely unlearn their editing instincts for this genre?

Longer takes can build tension way better.

Is there some kind of 12-step program for over-caffeinated editors who can't sit still? I went through the same thing, thought I was making cool music video cuts but just ended up giving everyone motion sickness. Turns out leaving a shaky shot of a doorknob for 6 seconds creates way more dread than 12 rapid-fire cuts.
