Overheard a guy at the deli counter saying his grandma’s chicken soup started with a whole onion, not chopped
That stuck with me so I tried it last weekend, dropping a peeled onion into my broth instead of dicing it up, and the flavor came out way cleaner and richer, anyone else pick up a random tip like that from eavesdropping?

Oh man, my friend Jenna once swore she overheard an old Italian lady at the farmers market say to never wash mushrooms - just brush them off - and now she won't stop telling everyone about it. @spencerl32 you're totally right about that onion trick, it's wild how something so small changes everything.

Always thought chopping it up was the only way but that actually makes a lot of sense.
