Watching a set designer at a wedding in Savannah changed how I think about space

I saw them use a single, huge monstera leaf as a backdrop for the sweetheart table instead of a full floral arch. It made the whole area feel open and modern, and the couple loved it. Has anyone else tried using big foliage pieces as focal points instead of dense arrangements?

That design blog said big leaves are trending.

My cousin's wedding in Tampa last year had a huge fiddle leaf fig as a photo backdrop and it was a total mess. The thing started wilting halfway through the reception and looked sad and droopy in all the pictures. Big leaves can die so fast in heat and they just look cheap when they fail. Give me a real floral arch any day, something that actually lasts and feels special.

What about the sound a big leaf makes in a quiet room? That gentle rustle could add a whole other layer of feeling to the space, not just the look.
