Spent $500 on a flower cooler repair and it's still not right

I had a guy come out to fix the cooling unit on my shop's main display case. He charged me $500 for parts and labor, but now the temp swings from 38 to 50 degrees. My roses are wilting faster than before. Some folks say I should have just bought a new unit, others say a second repair call might fix it. Has anyone else had a bad experience with cooler repairs? What did you do?

That temp swing is way too big for cut flowers, they need a steady 34-38. A second call might work if it's just a thermostat calibration, but for $500 you should have gotten a fixed unit. I'd call that guy back and make him finish the job right.

I mean, cut flowers actually prefer it closer to 32-34 for longest vase life, not 34-38, but you're right that $500 should buy a rock solid unit.

That 34 to 38 degree range is really specific. I had a fridge that would bounce around like that and it ruined a whole batch of stuff I was trying to keep fresh. Paying five hundred bucks just to have the same problem is a real kick in the teeth. The guy should at least come back and check his work for free.
