Shoutout to the peony that refused to open for a wedding last Saturday, took me 4 hours of warm water baths and gentle heat to get it right.

Anyone else have a stubborn bloom that almost ruined a big order?

That peony was holding out for a better contract. Honestly, sounds like you were in a hostage negotiation with a flower.

Did you try the trick where you recut the stem at a steep angle under warm water and put it in a vase with almost boiling water for like 30 seconds? Cause that usually forces them open even when they're being super stubborn. I've had those days where a whole batch of peonies decides they're not gonna cooperate and you end up losing half your morning just babying them. What was the temp of your warm water baths, cause maybe it wasn't hot enough to break their dormancy?

Tulips that snap shut at sunset are the worst.
