Saw a new way to show off orchids at a cafe in Seattle
I was at a small cafe in the Capitol Hill area last weekend and they had these amazing orchid displays. Instead of putting them in regular pots, they had them mounted on pieces of driftwood and hung from the ceiling with clear fishing line. Each one looked like it was floating. The owner said she waters them by taking them down once a week and soaking them for about fifteen minutes. It made me think about how we always push the same glass vases for orchids in our shop. This felt more like living art and it really caught people's eyes. I'm thinking of trying something like this for a window display. Has anyone else done mounted orchids for a storefront? How do you keep them happy with less constant care?

Oh that's brilliant. I saw a shop do something similar with old bookshelves turned sideways on the wall, and the orchids looked fantastic for months with just a weekly soak.

Wait, sideways bookshelves @perez.barbara? That's wild.
