My first boss told me to never use carnations in a wedding bouquet, but a bride in Tampa last month specifically asked for them

Remember that post by jakep24? My friend's florist tried to talk a bride out of carnations, but she had her grandma's dried ones from her own wedding. They made it work, looked kinda sweet actually.

My grandma was a florist in the 80s and she said the carnation rule was just about them being cheap filler flowers back then. I read an article last week that said some new varieties, like the 'Moon Dust' carnation, are actually getting popular in high end arrangements now. The whole "funeral flower" thing seems pretty outdated.

So your grandma was in the business? That's cool. Makes sense they were seen as cheap filler back then. I've seen those new fancy ones online, they do look totally different. Glad the old rules are fading.
