My delivery van's cooler unit quit on a 90 degree day
This happened last Tuesday afternoon during a big wedding delivery in Springfield. I had three large centerpieces with delicate orchids and ranunculus in the back. About halfway through the route, I noticed the air wasn't as cold. By the time I arrived, the flowers were already starting to look sad and wilty. I had to quickly explain the situation to the venue coordinator, who was understandably stressed. I ended up using some of the venue's walk-in fridge space to perk them up for about 20 minutes before setup, which saved the day. It was a close call that could have ruined the whole event. Has anyone found a good way to do a quick pre-trip check on those cooler systems to catch problems early?

Check the vent temp before you even load.

Man, that's the worst kind of stress. I had a fridge unit die on me with a load of deli salads once. Total nightmare. What I do now is just feel the air coming out of the vents before I even load up. It should be properly cold, not just kinda cool. I also listen for weird noises from the compressor when it kicks on. If the sound is off, like a rattle or a weak hum, that's a red flag. It only takes a minute but it can save your whole day.
