Just saw a new glue-down vinyl job in a Denver coffee shop that's already lifting at the seams

I was grabbing a coffee yesterday and noticed the floor felt soft near the counter. Got down for a closer look and the planks were already starting to cup and pull apart, maybe a quarter inch gap in spots. The install looked clean otherwise, but the subfloor must have had moisture. The manager said it was only put in six months ago. Has anyone else run into this with that newer rigid core stuff on concrete slabs?

Check if they used a vapor barrier under the rigid core. Honestly, that stuff is picky and needs a proper moisture test first, not just a visual check. Tbh I've seen installers skip it to save time and this is the result.

My last floor install looked like a DIY horror show.

Blame the coffee shop's cleaning crew too. Bet they're hitting that floor with a mop and some harsh degreaser every night. That eats away at the glue bond over time, especially if it's a warm, wet mop. Combine that with any slab moisture and you've got a recipe for failure. Rigid core needs dry, clean, and stable conditions - coffee shops are basically the opposite of that.
