Overheard a mechanic at my local bike co-op say most fixed gear frames crack at the bottom bracket first
I was there last week dropping off an old wheel and he pointed to a beat up frame on the rack and said that's the weak spot on cheap steel frames, has anyone here actually had that happen to their build?

Oh man, I gotta push back on that a little! I've been riding fixed for like 6 years now and I've seen way more frames crack at the chainstay or seatstay cluster than the bottom bracket. The BB area gets beat up on cheap bikes, sure, but that's usually from dodgy welding or bad dropouts, not a first failure point.

Makes sense, james92 always sees cheap stuff fail in the weirdest spots.
