PSA: I found out most modern toasters have a hidden reset button under the crumb tray
Read it in a 2018 appliance repair manual at the library, totally fixed my neighbor's 'dead' unit. How many other simple fixes are we missing because the manual is online now?

Seriously, this is why I hoard old paper manuals for everything. The search function on a PDF is trash for just flipping through and spotting weird little diagrams like that. We traded real browsability for a terrible keyword hunt.

Actually have to disagree here, @sage286. A good PDF with proper bookmarks and a linked table of contents is a game changer. You can jump to any section in two clicks, and the search finds every single mention of a term in seconds. Flipping through hundreds of paper pages to find one weird diagram feels like a huge step back. The problem is badly made PDFs, not the format itself.

Ugh, I'm with you on this. A well-made PDF is so much easier to use than a stack of paper. The bad ones just give the whole format a terrible name.
