Had a five minute chat with a dispatcher that fixed my whole week
I was on a service call in Austin last Tuesday, stuck trying to find a gate code that wasn't in the notes. Called dispatch and this guy named Mike picked up, said he used to run routes himself. He walked me through how he always texts the property manager first thing, saves the code in the job notes right away. That little tip saved me 20 minutes of waiting around, and now I do it every morning before I leave the house. Anybody else got a trick from a dispatcher that just clicked?
Man that dispatcher is a REAL one because 95% of them just read off the screen and say “good luck” before hanging up. I had one once tell me to check the mailbox for a key and I got chased by a Beagle for ten solid minutes. Now I just pretend I don't have my phone and figure it out myself because getting advice from dispatch is like playing Russian Roulette with your morning.
