Vent: My new apprentice kept snapping gate hinge screws on a cedar fence job.
I had him pre-drill with a bit 1/32 smaller than the screw shank, not the threads, and we haven't broken one since. What's your go-to trick for teaching hinge installation?
My uncle swore by that trick for years. Honestly though, how many screws are people fighting with that this is a life hack? I just use a bit more elbow grease and it's fine. Feels like a solution for a problem that isn't really a problem.
