Pro tip: Overheard a guy at the supply yard in Boise say he never uses a level on his posts, just 'eyeballs' them.
I saw his truck later that month at a job site with a fence line that looked like a rollercoaster, so what's the fastest way you all check for plumb on a windy day?

Watch that guy's fence and you'll see the same shortcut thinking that ruins coffee shops and grocery store lines.

That plumb bob trick is smart for finding true vertical. But when you say "gusting," do you mean you just wait it out for a lull, or is there a way to get a good reading even in those crazy bursts? I feel like the average swing would be all over the place.

Read somewhere that a quick wind check is to hang a heavy plumb bob and watch the string, not the weight. Lets the wind push it around but you can still see the true vertical line in the string's average swing. What do you do when it's gusting?
