My uncle said to always soak cedar posts for a full day before setting them in concrete, and after a job in Spokane where three posts warped, I guess he was right.

Has anyone else found a better prep method for cedar to stop that twist?

Yeah that's a solid tip. It's like how you gotta prep anything properly or it'll fight you later, from wood to paint to even cooking a steak.

Soaking helps, but using a wood stabilizer after they're dry can lock them in place even better. It soaks deep into the grain to really fight that seasonal movement.

It's funny how that applies to so many things - prep work always saves you headaches later, whether it's wood or drywall or even just zippers on a jacket.
