Hit 500 fence posts set in a single day last Thursday and my body is wrecked

Been doing this for about 6 years now, mostly residential stuff around Phoenix. Had a big job with a tight deadline so my crew and I pushed hard. We set 500 posts in one day using a PTO auger and a lot of sweat. That's almost double my normal rate. My back is killing me and my hands are raw but it felt good to prove we could do it. Anybody else ever hit a crazy milestone like that and pay for it the next day?

Honestly "body is wrecked" sounds a bit dramatic for setting fence posts. You're not running a marathon, you're drilling holes.

Haha "a bit dramatic" - tell that to my buddy Mike who helped me on a similar job. He was so proud of hitting 400 posts in a day and the next morning he literally couldn't lift his coffee cup. His wife had to pour it for him and he sat there like a statue sipping it with both hands. Took him a full week before he could twist his torso without wincing like he got stabbed. So yeah, drilling 500 holes in the desert sun with an auger that weighs almost as much as you do... that'll wreck you in a whole different way than a marathon would.
