Showerthought: I used to hate working with velvet

Always thought it was too fussy and showed every little mark. For a jacket design last month, I had to use it for a client. Tried a trick from a video where you steam it lightly before cutting, not after. Made a huge difference. The fabric didn't shift or pucker at all when I was sewing. I got the whole thing done in one afternoon instead of two days. Anyone have other tricks for tricky fabrics like this?

Honestly that steaming trick sounds like way more hassle than it's worth. Velvet's just a nightmare fabric no matter what you do.

Yeah @the_felix is right, it really is just a pain no matter what you do.
