My aunt said to put a hidden pocket in my jacket design
She told me this last year when I was making a canvas jacket for myself. I thought it was a silly idea and left it out. Then I wore it to a concert in Nashville and spent the whole night holding my phone and wallet, which was a pain. I added a zippered pocket inside the lining and now it's my favorite feature. Has anyone else added a hidden element that turned out to be a game changer?

Remember thinking those tiny key pockets in jeans were pointless. Then I lost my apartment key in a snowbank and had to call my super at 2am. Never mocked the tiny pocket again.

Actually that tiny pocket was originally for pocket watches. It's called a watch pocket. People just found a new use for it after wristwatches became common. So it wasn't designed for keys, but it works great for them now. Funny how that happens with old designs. They find a new purpose.

Oh man, that tiny pocket thing is such a perfect example. It's funny how we ignore stuff that later becomes the most useful part. I think the whole "hidden pocket in the jacket" thing is actually smarter than most people realize. Like, once you start adding secret spots for your phone or keys, you realize how much easier life is. I've started putting zippered pockets in all my jackets now, even the ones I don't plan to wear to concerts. It just makes sense to have a place where your stuff isn't going to fall out or get stolen. And honestly, it's kind of satisfying knowing you have a little secret compartment that nobody else knows about.
