My aunt said I should never mix patterns, but I tried it anyway
Honestly, she told me this about a year ago when I was sketching a dress idea with plaid and florals. I ignored her and made a sample piece with a small gingham and tiny rose print for a client's garden party look. Ngl, it turned out great and she actually bought it. Has anyone else found that some of the old fashion rules just don't work anymore?

Did your aunt also say we can't wear white after Labor Day? Some rules are made to be broken.

Yeah, and who even made that rule in the first place? It feels like half these fashion "rules" were invented just to make people feel bad for getting dressed in the morning. What other pointless stuff are we still listening to?

Oh man, @anna_hill you're onto something. I actually read once that department stores made up "no white after Labor Day" back in the day just to sell more clothes for each season. Makes you wonder how many other things we blindly follow, right? What's the dumbest fashion rule you've ever heard?
