Swear by test swatches now. Watched a pro ruin linen curtains once and never looked back. That stuff's too expensive to guess!

When you said "even pros wreck good fabric," it hit home. I used to think real experts could just go for it. Then I watched a friend mess up a whole bolt of linen by not testing the dye. Now I'm a total convert to test runs every time.
