Vent: I thought those new hoof stand pads were just a waste of money

I mean, my old one was fine for years, but I tried a friend's Sure Grip pad last week and my back didn't hurt after a full day of trims. Has anyone else made a small change that helped a lot?

My old stand pad was a cheap foam block for nearly a decade. Switching to a gel-top model was the difference between hobbling and walking out of the barn. It's wild how one piece of gear can change everything.

Wow, my buddy switched to a lighter rasp and his wrist pain just vanished.

Used to believe the tool weight didn't matter much for small jobs. Your buddy's story is a real eye-opener. Makes total sense that a lighter tool would take less strain off the joint over a long day. Guess we can all get stuck in our ways about gear. Might have to give a lighter rasp a try myself next time.
