Old timer told me to stop pulling nails with my hammer. He was right.

Met this guy at a clinic in Kentucky last fall. He's been shoeing for like 40 years. Watched me work for 5 minutes and said "you're killing your elbow pulling nails that way." Showed me this little nail puller tool instead. Took me a few weeks to get used to it. Now my elbow doesn't ache after a full day. Has anyone else switched away from the hammer claw for pulling nails?

Stopped reading right when you said "nail puller tool" because I had no idea that was a thing. My elbow has been barking at me for months and I just figured it was part of the job. Grabbed one off the truck this morning after reading this. Feels weird in my hand but I'm already noticing less strain on the first few shoes.

Yeah I had the same reaction when someone first showed me one. Felt like I was holding some weird medieval weapon. But once you get used to it you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.
