I finally see the point of rubber pads for draft horses

I used to skip rubber pads when shoeing big draft horses. I thought they were just extra cost and time. Last month, a client's horse had persistent hoof soreness. I tried adding pads as a last resort. The difference was clear. The horse moved better immediately. Now I always offer pads for draft horses in heavy use.

But what about the horses that thrive without pads?

My Percheron mare was the same way before we tried pads. She just seemed to move with a lot less effort after. It's one of those things you have to see for yourself.

Totally get it. I was the same way for years. Saw it with my own big guy, complete game changer.
