Stopped co-signing after my cousin's loan mess at Capital One

My cousin asked me to co-sign a car loan for $15,000 at Capital One in Portland. I said yes, then he missed 3 payments and my credit score dropped 80 points in a month. Took me a year of phone calls to get my name off that paper. Has anyone else dealt with a co-signing horror story like this?

Wait, you're telling me a trip to the grocery store during a snowstorm wasn't supposed to be a relaxing walk in the park? Next you'll be saying I should've brought more than a half tank of gas and a single granola bar.
