Tried soldering fairy lights with plumbing flux, big mistake

Figured regular flux would work fine but it left a sticky mess that shorted the whole strand after 3 days, has anyone else ruined a set by using the wrong kind of solder?

3 days later that sounds like the flux ate your insulation.

That flux residue can really mess up a connection if you don't clean it off right away. Had a buddy wire his whole amp once and it sounded fine until three months later when it started crackling like an old radio. He had to tear it all apart and redo everything, learned that lesson the hard way.
