Talked to an electrician at my kid's school play about fixing a string of lights

He said the trick is to check the bulbs closest to the outlet first since they take the most voltage stress... I'd always just started in the middle and wondered why it took so long. Has anyone else gotten a pro tip from a random person that actually worked?

Huh that's actually genius. So do you check each bulb one by one from the outlet or just look for the obvious dead ones?

Did the electrician happen to mention if it matters for newer LED strips too? I've been sitting on a dead set for weeks and this is making me feel pretty dumb.
