Totally, I put my old crockpot on one. It's from like 2008 and only has low and high settings. Now I can set it to start in the morning so dinner is ready when I get home. It feels like a hack, like I tricked it into being modern. That plug was maybe the best twenty bucks I've spent.

Right, the smart plug saving an old coffee maker. That's the best part about this stuff, it's like giving dumb appliances a second life. My old box fan from college is now on a smart plug so it turns off after I fall asleep. Same with a cheap lamp in the corner I never remember to hit the switch on. It feels like a cheap upgrade instead of buying all new smart gear.

Did you see that article about how many perfectly good appliances get tossed just for not being "smart"? Makes these little plugs feel like a small win.
