My old laptop kept dropping the Wi-Fi, but a quick settings change fixed it for good

For months, my Dell Inspiron 15 would lose connection every 20 minutes or so, and restarting the router didn't help. I finally found a tip online to go into the device manager, find the network adapter, and turn off the 'allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' setting. After doing that last Tuesday, I haven't had a single drop in a full week. Has anyone else tried this fix on a different brand?

That power saving setting is a common culprit. Read a tech blog that said it messes with older network cards. Did it work on your friend's HP too?

But is it really that big a deal?

Wadea53, my buddy's HP did the exact same thing and it was a loose wire inside.
